Obesity and cholesterol

The number of premature deaths due to obesity is increasing in developed countries. Obesity is the leading cause of several serious diseases. Some of them include heart diseases, blood pressure problems, stroke, diabetes, etc. It is better to control the weight at initial stages so as to avoid obesity. Reductil is one prescription medicine which helps in getting rid of obesity.

Cholesterol is a waxy fat like substance which is found in the blood circulation of humans. But if the number of Low density Lipoproteins (LDL) or bad cholesterol increases, then it is risky and may result in severe heart diseases.

Obesity raises the level of blood cholesterol and triglycerides. Triglycerides are also a type of cholesterol but if your body has increased amounts of triglycerides, it may lead to cardio vascular disorders. Obesity also leads to a decrease in the high Density Lipoproteins (HDL) or good cholesterol. In addition it raises the blood pressure level. Also it can lead to Type 2 diabetes which can be responsible for cardio-vascular diseases.

Obese people generally face difficulty while practicing exercises. In fact regular exercise will help in reducing the level of cholesterol and maintain good health. To reduce the level of cholesterol, Astra Zeneca has manufactured a pill named Crestor. However it is absolutely essential for an obese person to lose his weight so as to avoid this problem of cholesterol.

Myths about Impotence

Any type of sexual problem is often treated as a taboo. Impotence or also termed as erectile dysfunction is one of the common problems which several men suffer. People generally feel awkward to discuss sexual health related problems with their doctor or even their partner. Let us see some myths related to impotence:

  1. The main cause of impotence is aging. This is one of the myths which have been in minds of many people. But it is not always true. Although the risk of old men suffering from impotence is more but age is not the only cause behind it. Other causes for impotence in old men are medications for diabetes, blood pressure or heart disease.

  2. Another myth is that there exists no treatment for impotence. Although there is no permanent cure for it, but treatments like pills, vacuum pumps, penile implants are available. Not only Viagra but pills like Cialis and Levitra are also prescribed.

  3. Many times men feel being impotent is their own problem. But this is not the case. If a man is suffering from erectile dysfunction, his partner may be left unhappy and unsatisfied. It thus becomes a couple problem.

  4. Young men will not suffer from impotence is also one of the myths. This is completely false. Studies have shown that due to the pressure of work, stress, etc youngsters also suffer from problems of blood pressure, diabetes which in turn will lead to impotence.

It is high time to feel embarrassed of such situation. This is not a problem which will disappear automatically. Proper discussion with your doctor is essential and only then the necessary treatment must be opted.
