Obesity prevails in many developed countries. Studies have proved that the number of people who are obese have tripled over the last 20 years. About 46% of men in UK and 32% of women are overweight. And an additional 17% of men and 21% of women are obese. The main reason for growing weight of a person is changes in lifestyle and eating habits. Obesity is a becoming a concern as it leads to many serious diseases like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, diabetes and heart diseases which can eventually lead to death.

It is observed that obesity comes with age but these days this is not the case. Obesity affects not only adults but children also. Here are certain tips for diet which can be followed:

It is observed that many people do not drink water even though they are aware about the fact that water is good for health. Drinking water flushes the toxins that are stored in your body. Drinking soda can cause obesity. Another reason for obesity is alcohol consumption. Though people are aware about the hazardous effects of alcohol, they find difficulty in quitting those habits.

Avoid having junk food or high calorie food. Have smaller meals throughout the day instead of having heavy meals at one sitting. Have green salads, fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Avoid having meat as it is one of the reasons for obesity. Curd or buttermilk after the meal will be useful.

Never rush through your meal. Proper chewing of food is absolutely essential. And above all, regular exercise is one effective solution for reducing weight. But this exercise should not be practiced immediately after your meal.
