Health Risks by Obesity

Obesity affects several people in US and UK. Obesity is not restricted to age or gender. These days childhood obesity has also become a serious condition. People must be aware that the increase in weight leads to many serious problems. Some of the major problems are listed below.

Heart Disease: With Obesity there is a risk of getting heart attack. Also high blood pressure, chest pain, and heart failure are common in obese people.

Diabetes: Obese people have double chances of developing a type 2 Diabetes. This type of diabetes reduces the body’s ability to control blood sugar.

Stroke: The fat which is consumed is absorbed in the arteries making it narrower. This results in the formation of clot which in turn leads to stroke.

Cancers: Several cancers are related to obesity. Women who are obese generally are prone to cancer of uterus, gallbladder, cervix, ovary, breast, and colon. Whereas obese men are prone have to cancer of prostate, colon or rectum.

Liver Disease: One of the risk factors affecting insulin resistance is obesity. This leads to fatty liver disease.

Sleep apnea: This is a problem in which a person suddenly stops breathing while sleeping. Obese people may suffer from sleep apnea.

All these problems are related to each other and may even lead to early death.
